OPEN HOUSE FOR FALL SKATING PROGRAMS
SUNDAY AUGUST 29, 2010
Parking Lot of Boch Ice Center
2 pm to 6 pm

BEGINNER FIGURE SKATING, LEARN TO SKATE &
SYNCHRONIZED SKATING – FOR ALL AGES

Wednesday Class 4:30pm – 5:20pm

8 weeks: 9/15, 9/22, 9/29, 10/6, 10/13, 10/20, 10/27, 11/3

Saturday Class 12:30pm – 1:20pm (figure skating – 4-12 yrs.)

8 weeks: 9/18, 9/25, 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30 11/6

MINI CRYSTALS SYNCHRONIZED SKATING TEAMS

For figure skaters ages 6-14 years old

3 Teams: PreJuvenile, Beginner 2 & Beginner 1

2 practices per week: Thursdays & Saturdays

Precise Power Edges, coached by Mandy Curtin, Professional Figure Skating Coach will help your child with improving his/her hockey skating skills over the spring months. Assistant coaches are JV and Varsity High School Hockey Players.

Summer hours July and August
Figure Skating Tuesdays 6:30 PM
Power Edges Wednesdays 6:30 PM

Mandy Curtin has coached many hockey players over the years and has also helped some NHL referees with their skating. Mandy is the director of skating for The Mini Blades of Dedham basic skills program and the Mini Crystals Synchronized Skating Teams.

Precision Power Edges will teach your child speed, acceleration and how to execute all edges used in skating. Learn to skate with more explosive speed, quickness and agility, and apply these new skating techniques in game situations.

Main focus:

· Balance and control on one foot to improve crossovers

· Smooth and powerful stride to increase speed

· Starts, stops, turns and transitions helpful in game situations

Forward Inside Edges L & R
Backward Outside Edges L & R
Backward Inside Edges L & R
Crossovers Forward Counter-C/Clockwise
Crossovers Backwards Counter-C/Clockwise
Hockey stops L & R, Backward one foot plow
Forward Stroking exercises
Forward Stroking in timed laps
Stroking backwards
Power turns 180 & 360
Forward & Backward slalom one foot
Quick starts and stops
